FALKLAND CRICKET CLUB ON TRACK FOR REPEAT VISIT TO LORDS

24th February 2001

Berkshire champions, Falkland Cricket Club from Newbury, progressed for the second year running to the Regional Finals of the ECB Indoor 6-a-side National Cricket Championship with a nail-biting one wicket victory over Milton Keynes Cricket Club. The match played at Stantonbury Leisure Centre, Milton Keynes on Saturday 24th February saw Milton Keynes restricted to 81 all out.

Falkland bowled tightly with Peter Randall and Nigel Trumper claiming two wickets each and Richard O'Toole one with the other wicket falling to a run out.

Falkland were made to struggle in their reply. Andy Townsend scored 15 and Richard O'Toole 16 but it was left to experienced campaigner Peter Randall to see his side home to a narrow victory with an unbeaten 25.

Falkland now go for the second successive year the National Quarter Finals at Canterbury on Sunday March 4th. The identity of their opponents is not yet known.

Success here will lead the Club to the Semi-Finals and Final which will be played at Lords on Sunday March 18th.
