Lottie Aird is a batting force to be reckoned with and may also be a record breaker (we’re checking!)

After starting the season well with two wins the Falkland Women’s team were again away this time at Cookham Dean for their next league game on Sunday. With their regular openers missing Falkland started shakily at 21-3. Then stand in skipper Lottie Aird not only took control of the situation but began to mount a counter attacking batting display that saw her race to her first ever and the clubs first ever 100 from the women’s team. She continued to destroy the Cookham Dean attack and finished with (possibly a club record, and the statisticians are currently checking) 170 Not out off 102 balls! Sophie Armstrong Wood (38) offered support to give Falkland a phenomenal final score of 269-5. After a hot 30 overs in the field the Cookham Dean batters melted and failed to offer much in response as the Falkland bowlers all took wickets with Izzy Storrar and Kira Engall taking 2 each bowling out their opponents for 68 and winning by over 200 runs. A fantastic team performance in the field but with an inspirational individual achievement by Lottie. That win puts Falkland top of the league but with stronger opponents to come over the next 2 weeks the squad will be looking forward to the next challenge.
