As our thoughts turn towards the hopes of warmer sunshine, this is the time of year Falkland Cricket Club starts to welcome members present and new to join us at our wonderful facilities for a summer of cricketing fun. Falkland CC welcomes players of all abilities and experience to our sessions on Monday evenings, and there should also be plenty of match opportunities for those who would like to have a go. If you have never been to the club before then we look forward to meeting you and your child(ren).
Summer sessions will run at Falkland Cricket Club on Monday evenings from 29th April through to September. Session timings are:
U9 and U11 boys (school years 3 to 6 inclusive) - 18.00 to 19.00
U13 and U15 boys (school years 7 to 10 inclusive) - 19.00 to 20.00
As the season progresses, age group coaches may wish to extend these sessions when light allows but they will be in touch separately in this regard.
For those who have previously been a member then you can expect more of the same cricketing opportunities and social fun. However, we are trialling a slightly different membership cost and structure for this coming season:
In order to allow boys and girls to play cricket at Falkland this summer, the 2019 junior boys and girls subscription (£70) is for family membership of the club. This includes associate membership of the club for one child as well as associate membership for one adult who is legally responsible for the child. As before, the child will be able to partake in all junior (girls or boys) cricket activities as appropriate, but now the adult will also be entitled to play cricket during the season, as part of this membership, if they wish. Additional children, for whom the adult is legally responsible, can also be added as associate members for an additional subscription of £50 per child. Winter sessions when run will be charged in addition to this membership, at £35 a term per boy.
U9’s need no special cricket kit, as they use soft balls for all practises and matches, and all equipment is provided. All other age groups will use hard balls and will need to use protective cricket equipment. However, please don’t let the need for this equipment get in the way of you son joining in and having fun. If you would, for whatever reason, prefer not to purchase any kit at the moment then the club has spares that can be provided to borrow. Just let us know!
U9, U11 and U13’s will be reusing the dark blue playing tops worn by the boys last year (new members will receive one free of charge), but I have ordered some spares for any who may have grown out of (or lost) their tops. They will be for sale at £10 each at the registration table, as will the very smart club caps. If you know that your son has grown out of their (clean!) top and you’d like to donate it to others then I’m sure it too will be gratefully received at the registration table.
U15’s will be reusing the club playing tops worn by the boys last year, which also allow them to be used for senior matches if desired. New members, and those moving into the age group, will receive one free of charge. I have ordered some spares for any who may have grown out of (or lost) their tops. They will be for sale at £10 each at the registration table, as will the very smart club caps. If you know that your son has grown out of their (clean!) top and you’d like to donate it to others then I’m sure it too will be gratefully received at the registration table.
Please submit membership forms, along with payment, by the 13th May latest. Thankyou. Payment and membership submission details can be found at the end of the membership form.
We hope that you and your boys enjoy the cricket, facilities and camaraderie provided by Falkland Cricket Club and we wish you all the very best for a busy sporting summer.
