Falkland U9s v Purley U9s

If you thought the last few weekends were hot, the U9s were on fire today in a league match against Purley.

Purley called tails but the coin came down heads and the Falkland skipper invited Purley to bat. Falkland took to field with another rapturous round of applause from their faithful fans and opened the bowling strongly. The ball flew past the outside edge on many occasions and, coupled with their usual tight fielding, Falkland managed to keep the scoring rate down in the early overs. With some strong middle and end overs, Falkland did well to restrict Purley to 62 at the end of their 20 overs. A sizzling bowling and fielding display.

After a much-needed drinks break to wash down the coach's custard creams it was Falkland's turn to bat. Five overs later, Falkland had won! Some tremendous hitting and excellent running between the wickets meant they could bat out the remaining 15 overs in the comfort of knowing the match was won. The team's unbeaten record at home still stands, and the run of six league matches unbeaten continues.

Well played lads - keep it up!
