Falkland captain Dave Harrison won the toss and elected to bowl with a weakened side due to poor player availability. Eversley made a strong start putting on 152 for the first wicket in double time and laying the platform for a massive first innings total of 373 all out.
Paul Ager and Mathew Martin made 124 and 81 respectively and only the introduction of George Hawkins and Ben Thomas stemmed the flow of runs by taking wickets. Hawkins returned 1-45 from 10 overs while Thomas impressed with 4-37 from 7 overs. Marson also took 3 wickets for 90.
The youth of James Robinson and Aiden Kriel both u15 deserved mention with their first outings in senior cricket at this level said Harrison “they will both benefit from the experience even though this was a difficult afternoon”.
In reply Falkland lost Thomas early caught at Gully by Martin off Berger North with an excellent low catch. Marson and Brown then showed some steel and started to build an innings when Marson pulled a short one to mid wicked and was caught.
This signalled the collapse to a dismal 69 all out with Harrison being left stranded on 4 not out with the last four batsman all falling for ducks. Reardon Brown was introduced as first change and returned 6-11 from 4.5 overs and was the pick of the bowlers “but to be honest the application of our batters was really poor” said Harrison with the winning margin for Eversley in excess of 300 runs.
Falkland 3rd XI is away to Maidenhead and Bray next Saturday, it is hoped that the side will benefit from improved availability and lessons learned from the weekend.
