The sky is the limit for our Premier League winning Women’s team

They may have only been playing Home Counties league cricket for two years, but our Women’s 1st XI already have a Premier League title under their belts.

So what’s next for this all conquering team and their inspirational captain? Well, skipper Holly Rider thinks there are plenty of great things ahead. A huge part of this team’s achievement so far has been their ability to inspire other girls to get involved with cricket. Our girls section has been running for 5 years now and of the 210 juniors in the club, an impressive 40%+ are girls. But Holly is not one to take her foot off the gas; and it’s her ongoing plan for her and team to continue to act as role models to our younger female members, paving a way for all who would like to make cricket their sport.

Holly and her squad will shortly be welcoming a new member to their numbers soon, as the very first Falkland Women’s Overseas player; Meika King is set to join them this week, and Holly is certain Meika will be both a great addition to the team, and another brilliant role model for our younger players.

Regarding the season ahead, hoping to continue the teams momentum that saw them lift the Premier League trophy last year, Holly is her usual relaxed yet determined and ever humble self; ‘I’m looking forward to keep growing the standard within the team and club pathway, and we’ll see where we can get to this summer’… well, you can be sure there’s another thrilling season ahead with this team!
Go well 1’s!
