Falkland U9s v East Woodhay U9s

After levelling the inaugural tri-match series against Falklands Thunder on Friday night, and consolidating our match experience on Saturday with a win in a friendly against Chieveley, Sunday saw the U9 boys return to the home ground fortress for a league match against the excellent East Woodhay.

Falklands won the toss and on a scorching morning, the Skipper invited the opposition to bat first. It was an explosive start from the boys as the Falkland express came steaming in and sent the off stump flying in the first ball of the match. East Woodhay dug in and, with some excellent big hitting towards the back of their innings, made it to 100. It was a good batting display from East Woodhay with some equally good bowling and fielding from Falkland. Honours even at the break.

Falkland started their innings calmly, picking up runs where they could. Then it was the turn of the middle and lower order to once again accelerate the run-rate and bring the win home with three overs to spare.

Thanks for the match East Woodhay and good luck for the rest of the season. And for the Falkland boys, that's three wins in three matches in three days. The boys were fantastic - but of course the real winner was cricket.
