With a packed schedule on both our Enborne Lodge and our Wilson Carlisle ground, there’s a huge amount of cricket going on for all age groups. Stop by every Monday for a round up of what the exciting young teams have been up to.
Our youngest cricketers are enjoying plenty of fun in our All Stars and Dynamo sessions every Saturday morning. All Stars, on our Enborne Lodge ground accommodates 5-8 year olds, whilst just up the road on the Wilson Carlisle ground, Dynamos is aimed at 8-11 year olds. Both of these ECB initiatives are hugely popular, helping children build confidence, skills and a love for the game, all whilst having so much fun. We’re certain there are many future Falkland CC stars amongst them!
Our Under 15’s got off to a flying start this season too, when they faced a strong Shinfield side, in the T20 Cup.
Falkland posted a competitive total of 166-3 with the bat and held their nerve to see off the challenge of the visitors, winning by 19 runs.

The U15’s were beaten only by the weather for their next fixture, this time against Bradfield. Batting first, Falkland posted a great total of 188-3. Thick dark clouds gathered, and only 4 overs of the Bradfield innings was possible before the rain started to fall on the Enborne Lodge ground. The visitors were already pegged to 14-2 by our strong U15 side, so there was plenty of frustration at the result. May the sun now shine for every fixture!

Not to be outdone by their older counterparts, the Under 13 squad - The Cavaliers, travelled to Goring for their second round cup game in heavy skies but full of determination to progress to the next round. Batting first, the Falkland openers were quickly into their stride, with the middle order then accelerating even more! A really strong team effort with the bat saw Falkland post an excellent 168/4 at the break.
Equalling their efforts with the willow, the Cavaliers bowlers worked as a tight unit to never allow Goring to take control of their innings. Goring hung in there admirably though, and finished on 120/5, with our Cavaliers taking a 48 run victory.

Attention now turns to the next round in a local derby tie against Hungerford. Go Cavaliers!
Finally this week, our Under 11’s have also been busy. Enjoying the sunshine on the ELG, they had a loud and fun time on Sunday morning, as the welcomed local friends Newbury CC. Lots of contributions with bat and ball, and a team spirit that made the parents proud, and, to make sure it was a juniors clean sweep, they too were victorious! Thanks to Paul Monger and Ed Uden at Newbury for making the game as fun, inclusive and straightforward as they always do!
It’s so encouraging for the future of FCC to see so many youngsters enjoying their cricket. We wish them all luck in their upcoming fixtures, and look forward to celebrating their successes this time next week… go well!
