Club stalwart passes away

It was with much sadness that Falkland members learned that Kevin Webb passed away on Sunday 29th January 2023.
Kevin was a true stalwart of Falkland CC, who was popular with the players as an ever-present supporter at home matches where he was also involved as a cheerful volunteer undertaking the pitch re-marking duties between innings, a job in which he took great pride. However his involvement behind the scenes extended far beyond that and for many years he has been a loyal volunteer helper to both Wilson Carlisle and his groundsman successor Chris Brown in preparing pitches and maintaining the grounds. His contribution to the club was marked by the members in 2018 when he was the winner of the Francis Neate Award for his outstanding contribution to the club.
He was also a keen follower of Newbury Rugby Club during the cricket close season.

It is sometimes a cliché to refer to someone as “a lovely man” but in Kevin’s case it just fits him so well. He will be greatly missed by all at Falkland CC.

The funeral on Friday 24th February 2023 was attended by many of his friends from Falkland CC and Newbury Rugby Club and was followed by a wake at The Bowler’s Arms.
