Our Boys U11 and U13 Teams enjoyed one day cup competitions at Serious Cricket in Dummer between Christmas and the New Year. It was a perfect opportunity to burn off some roast turkey and Christmas pudding and put any new Christmas kit to the test.
The U11 team of Aayansh K, Finn H, Derick M, Finn J, Joe B and Ollie C played matches against Fleet CC, Basingstoke CC, Basingstoke Challengers and Cranleigh CC. The sides were all very evenly matched and the boys came away with a win and 3 narrow losses in the group stage.
They just missed out in their quarterfinal to Basingstoke CC but the young team learnt huge amounts and had a fun filled day.
The U13 team of Jack R, George H, Jimmy P, Max W, Edward RM and William B then had their turn a couple of days later. They were up against 2 Academy sides from Dorset, Camberley CC and Horsell Lions – all strong sides which showed in the level of cricket that was played throughout the day.
The boys ended the group stage in second place with 3 wins from 4, and took on the RCS Bouncers in their quarter final. They came through on top in a final ball thriller and took on the other academy side of the RCS Duck Dodgers in their semi-final. They suffered a narrow loss to the eventual champions, but again took away huge learnings and all enjoyed a long day of exciting cricket with their friends.
Thanks to all the parents who came along to support the boys on the day, and who provided some outstanding cakes and treats!
