To start the season off with a bang, the Falkland Women’s First XI took on Stony Stratford at Enborne Lodge Ground. Being sent into bowl first, Falkland chipped away before Izzy Storrar (3/29) was rewarded the first wicket of the match. Building some solid partnerships, Stony Stratford continued to find the boundary and keep the score progressing in the first 10 overs.
Tight spin bowling throughout the middle period from Immi Storrar and Laura Scheiwe saw the pair keep runs to a minimum. Returning Hampshire player, Ava Lee also picked up a few wickets to finish with figures of 2/32 off 7. Nandini Verma held the oppositions innings together with a hard fought 50* (90) bringing Stony Stratford’s total to 9/201.
A rapid start to the second innings saw Falkland score at more than 10 runs per over. The second wicket partnership between Izzy Storrar and Ava Lee consisted of 92 runs scored effortlessly across all parts of the ground.
Izzy Storrar had a standout performance smashing 82 off just 65 deliveries before being dismissed LBW. A true all-round performance saw Izzy rewarded player of the match as Falkland chased the total with 10 overs to spare.
