Sunday’s fixture vs Binfield Cricket Club saw the Falkland Women’s First XI host an exciting game at Enborne Lodge Ground. Losing the toss and being sent into bat, Falkland were off to a strong start with captain, Holly Rider (34) finding the boundary early. The loss of a few quick wickets saw the run rate drop dramatically before a rebuild began. Returning to the side, Lottie Aird steadied the ship with a comfortable 66 off 90 deliveries to bat through the innings. This was supported by Scheiwe (94*) as the pair put on a mammoth partnership of 158. A solid bowling performance from Naazneen Asif Iqbal saw the off spinner claim figures of 1/16 off 7 at an economy of just 2.3. Falkland finished their 40 overs on 2/223.

Binfield CC started their innings off with a bang going hard from the very first delivery. Opening batters FN Iqbal (17) and Bingley (11) had no problem swinging the willow as the visitors surpassed 50 runs in just the 6th over. The momentum quickly began to shift back into Falkland’s favour as wickets tumbled. A player of the match performance for Kira Engall saw the pace bowler take 4/12 off 6 overs, knocking over the crucial players. Three of Engall’s four wickets had the stumps apart. Izzy Storrar proceeded to clean up the tail taking 3/2 off 1.3. Binfield’s players struggled to stick around as the side were bowled out for 114 in just the 23rd over. Falkland have slotted into 3rd position on the ladder being undefeated from their 3 matches.
