Falkland Development XI started their Berkshire League campaign in the best possible way with a 22 run victory away to Crowthorne and Crown Wood 3rds.
Having lost the toss and been asked to bat first, Falkland’s batsmen all applied themselves well despite the dangers posed by a very uneven pitch. Edan Camplin (33) and Jan Kriel (33 no) and Levi Butler (23) led the scoring but all the batsmen got into double figures as Falkland reached 169 for 7 from their allotted 40 overs.
In reply Crowthorne lost a wicket off the first ball of the innings to Edan Camplin (2-12 from 8 overs) whose pace proved to be a handful in the conditions. Levi Butler chipped in with 2 for 17 and Jan Kriel and Noah Butler claimed one each as Crowthorne were unable to accelerate and finished 22 runs short on 147 for 6
