Falkland won the toss and decided to bowl
Lucy opened the bowling and took a 2nd ball wicket via a direct hit from Amelia at long stop. We were off to a great start!
Up stepped Izzy B with a wicket taking the bails off first ball. This was followed by a near run out next ball from Els at mid off before two 4s from the Emmbrook batter.
Millie was next into attack, flighting the ball beautifully with Alexa looking sharp behind the stumps.
Darcey was thundering them down the wicket, keeping the opposition to the odd single. Cracking fielding from Els on the boundary to stop an overthrow going for 4. 18-2
In came Amelia, with their batter taking a body hit but bravely carrying on before hitting a pull shot for 4.
Izzy G joined the attack with a maiden over, bowling on a great line and length. Grace stepped up next with Emmbrook batter retiring unbeaten after reaching her allotted 25 balls. 32-2
Mya was in next with an accurate right arm over constantly probing.
Amelia's 2nd over nearly resulted in a run out first ball, but the batter was judged in her crease. Her wicket came third ball as captain Izzy caught a skied ball. A big appeal from the girls followed on the next ball before a thick edge ran for 4.
Emmbrook scored 44-3 off their first 10 overs and Amelia came in to wicket keep. Izzy set her field for Lucy’s return and the ball dropped agonisingly short of Alexa at mid wicket. The next ball was a big hit which Els managed to hold on to between her hands and thighs! 47-4 and Izzy B was back with a really strong over with a very near caught and bowled on her penultimate ball.
Millie was bowling tightly, the bails somehow stayed intact, but the sustained pressure was on and that was followed by a tight over from Darcey.
Alexa bowled her first over after swapping from keeper, a scampered single was taken with the batter just making her crease before a direct throw from Izzy B. The girls were fielding confidently and accurately; ensuring Emmbrook were reluctant to risk singles.
Izzy G took the next wicket bowling the batter around her legs. 60-5
Into the last few overs with Els, Mya & Grace keeping it tight before heading into the final over from Lucy. Final score was 78-5
Falkland padded up and strode out confidently, ready to chase down the target.
Amelia faced up to their opener, partnering Lucy and was soon off the mark with a double and a single. Unfortunately a lofted ball from the next over was caught by the retreating bowler. 3-1 and our captain was in with a defensive stop in the first ball. The next 3 balls went for 4s!
Next over Lucy was dropped as they ran a single and Izzy pounced on a wider ball for 4. The pair were ticking us along until a straight ball caught out Lucy!
Grace was in and soon off the mark. Izzy hit a 4 into the watching crowd from the middle of the bat. She was in good form hitting more fours. The 50 was up off 7 overs and we were cruising with Izzy G having to retire after her 44 from her 25 balls. 40 of those runs were boundaries! With Izzy B entering the fray she soon joined the 4 gang. Grace then upped the ante as she entered the 6 club with our first this season! The pair steered us to victory 81/2!
Good cricket all round was the quote from behind the boundary rope! Thanks again to our amazing supporters and, of course, our girls who always do us proud! Onwards march the mighty Pink Army!
