It was another classic British cricket day—cool enough for blankets, yet somehow still calling for sun cream. Holyport was the venue, and spirits were high. Parents, wrapped up and sipping Rebellion ale, dotted the boundary, issuing heartfelt (and often conflicting) instructions: “Run! No, don’t run! Run!”
Falkland CC 256/3 beat Henley CC 244/4
Falkland were sent in to bat after losing the toss and put in a solid shift. Paige, Edie and Emilia found the boundary rope with confidence, despite a tricky Henley bowling attack that offered 20 wides—making runs hard to come by in between.
In the field, the girls were sharp. Mina, Edie and Paige each executed composed run-outs to keep the pressure on. Freya clean bowled a key batter, and Edie—electric as ever—stopped would-be boundaries and nailed a direct-hit run-out.
A tight contest, but Falkland edged it.
Littlewick Green CC 244/3 beat Falkland CC 230/4
A low-scoring nail-biter. Falkland struggled to get going with the bat—Emilia the only one to find the boundary in a disciplined bowling display from Littlewick Green.
Defending a modest total, Falkland threw everything at it. Run-outs from Poppy and Mina kept them in the game, and Paige delivered a nerve-jangling final over, claiming a wicket and giving her team a glimmer of hope.
A valiant effort, but they came up just short.
Falkland CC 282/1 beat Holyport CC 210/5
This one was all Falkland. Edie set the tone with a wicket in the opening over, and she and Poppy both delivered maiden overs. Freya was on fire with three wickets—including a brace in consecutive balls—and even managed a run-out. Paige was safe as houses behind the stumps, taking a brilliant catch. Every bowler played their part, and the extras stayed comfortably in single digits.
With the bat, Freya opened up with back-to-back boundaries, before Emilia and Mina put on a 40+ stand to finish. Emilia peppered the rope all around the ground, with Mina offering steady support and adding a few of her own.
All in all, a full-on day of cricket. Wins, a narrow defeat, and lots of moments to be proud of. The girls gave it everything—and then some. Thanks again for all of the parental support during a very long day of cricket and special thanks to Adam for umpiring!
