Tuesday evening saw Falkland Lightning host a strong Henley side in the U15 girls league. Immi won the toss and elected to bat first.
Immi and Milla opened the batting, both girls looked solid in defence whilst also scoring runs of anything wide. Boundaries were being hit regularly, including a huge six from the bat of Immi. Immi reached her 30 ball limited and had to retire, with a fantastic score of 59.
Milla was the first wicket to fall in the 10th over, with the score at 105, she scored 22 from just 20 balls. This meant that Issy and Daisy were now at the crease. The two girls batted brilliantly. Daisy reached her 30 ball limit, scoring 13 runs. Izzy joined Issy at the crease, Issy was now in top form and was hitting the balls to all parts. She finished 45 not out with Izzy 6 not out. Falkland finished 175 for 1 from their 20 overs.
Henley started their innings strong, with their three county players in the top three. They lost their first wicket in the 10th over with the score at 81. Issy after her great knock with the bat clean bowled the batter. The new batter only lasted three balls, before Issy claimed her second wicket, with another clean bowled. In her next over Issy claimed her third wicket, another beautiful clean bowled. Henley were now 89 for 3, and needing to seriously increase the run rate. With the end of the game looming, it seemed that some of the Falkland girls were getting a little panicked in the field. Throws were being hurtled in, with no chance of the wicket keeper stopping them. A tight 18th and 19th over from Izzy and Daisy meant it was impossible for Henley to reach the target, and they finished 151 for 3.
This was a good win against a strong Henley side who sit top of the league. Two great innings from Immi and Issy and then a fine bowling performance from Issy made all the difference. As normal, the girls encouraged each other throughout the game, including a huge roar when Immi reached her 50. Thank you to all the supporters, and to Tristian for all your hard work, setting up the pitch and umpiring
